Charlie Bartlett (Anton Yelchin) is a wealthy teenager failing miserably at fitting in at his new public high school. As he starts figuring out the social hierarchy and the workings of the cliques, people realize that he’s a pretty likeable guy. People start to pour out their heart and souls to him, and pretty soon Charlie sets up his own little psychiatric practice in the boy’s room. He didn’t realize until now that he could help people just by listening, with a little help from partner and fellow student Murphey Bivens (Tyler Hilton). Charlie tricks real doctors into thinking he needs medication, providing him with prescriptions to dole out to the students who meet with him right under the nose of Principal Gardner (Robert Downey, Jr.). After giving dozens of students a friendly ear, some Ritalin, and a little advice, Charlie finally learns that, to figure out his life, he’ll have to take his own advice.
