“Brokedown Palace” sees two high school friends, Alice Marano (Claire Danes) and Darlene Davis (Kate Beckinsale) who decide to take a trip to Thailand to celebrate graduation. It’s there they both meet a charming man by the name of Nick Parks (Daniel Lapaine) who convinces them to come with him to Hong Kong. At the airport, customs detains them for suspicion of drug trafficking and finally busts them for smuggling. Now the girls are before the courts of a foreign land and sentenced to 33 years in prison. With no one knowing they’re over seas, the girls contact an American lawyer named Yankee Hank (Bill Pullman) who is rumored to be very good at his job if you have the money.
