The young couple Grace Andrews (Sophia Bush) and Jim Halsey (Zachary Knighton) are on their way to spring break, driving cross country when they come upon a hitchhiker. Grace has a bad feeling and things immediately take a turn for the worst for the couple as the hitchhiker, John Ryder (Sean Bean) brings hit after hit against them, including physical assaults and framing them for murder. No one is on their side as Grace and Jim attempt the flee the Hitcher. Even the police will not belive the couple that they are not responsible for the brutal slaying and they have to run from the police too.
